well here it is folks my first finished piece Vogue 8146
well actually that's the toille, the preview of how my jacket should look.
and now the final item
I am really chuffed with how it has turned out, I liked the hong kong seams so much I decided to add them to the cuffs and bottom hem, just for that small splash of colour.
now then next to attempt the dress but I think that is best left until after half term.

day 1
Here I am day 1 of a new blogging life. how did I come about this, it was via the most knowledgeable sewing lady I have ever met. thank you so much pin queen. This lovely lady talked about her work and her blog, so I had a look and decided to start my own and how I plan to start my own small business selling the jewellery I make and my latest interest in vintage inspired handbags,
I have been a quilter, but not much past the part of actually making lots and lots of quilt tops (the thought of manoeuvring all that fabric under the arm of the sewing machine has always been quite daunting) so having got past the lap quilt stage but not much further, (a plethora of large bed size quilt tops take up space in my sewing room). I have always kindled a love of wanting to make my own clothes. still this seemed very confusing. so the next step for me was bags. and in this I have found my calling.
I have been making bags from patterns for quite a while now, thanks to a fantastic designer Lisa Lam of u-handbag. having learnt from her the basics of bag building and design I am ready to start on my own creations that I been sketching from time to time.
Anyway back to pin queen, being a gal who was given the short end of the stick, literally I was getting so fed up of never finding clothes to fit me, sometimes even Petit is too big, and having seen the posters advertising sewing classes, I signed up. Well I went, I cut patterns, I made a toille, and finally even started on the outfit. A jacket and dress from very easy vogue V8146 (I would include a picture but as of yet I don't know how).
the fabric is double crepe in cream. The jacket is almost completed then it will be time to start on the dress.
So for the past few weeks, on a Wednesday night I have finally been sewing for me. now I have my daughters asking for 1 pirate outfit and the other for a cosplay outfit. wow now that's pressure. I have absolutely enjoyed my time at sewing class, met some fantastic ladies and learnt alot.
and even thought it wasn't expected, I have also entered the word of blog.
happy sewing and good karma to you all.
